Cristea Roberts: Pathway

They say don’t meet your heroes, but how wrong they are!

I was delighted to be a guest at Cristea Roberts Gallery on Thursday evening October 10th to attend a talk by Ian Davenport RA an in-depth conversation about his experience, work and methodology. ‘

The title of the exhibition and new book is 'Pathway’ an exhibition of paper works, a variation of complex printing techniques, OMG I was mesmerised by the two largest spatter paintings, both resonated with me, the powerful explosion of the marks hitting the paper, provided an overwhelming excitement for me. I could have gazed upon them for hours.

I understand fully as an abstract artist the fascination of communicating with an audience using colour, the conversation evoking the emotion and intersecting the questioning of our senses to challenges not only visually.
Both David Cleaton-Roberts and Ian Davenport RA kept the audience well informed.
Title 'Blue Stars 2024' stole the show for me. I have to get a bigger piggy bank 😂🤣😂🤣
Wonderful exhibition thoroughly enjoyed it… I even returned to the gallery Friday 11th Afternoon just to absorb those emotions once again. I have always enjoyed Ian’s work being introduced back in 2015 and purchasing my first piece in 2018. Big thank you.
